We are pleased to announce this certification from Environmental Risk Professionals, LLC, and we would like to share their press release:
The Arizona Group was named a CERC Insurance Advisor on Mar 2, 2021. An independent insurance brokerage with three offices located in Mesa, Tucson, and Scottsdale, AZ, the team is comprised of over 50 individuals, specializing in different types of insurance solutions for individuals and businesses. As a CERC Insurance Advisor, The Arizona Group has received training and has specialized knowledge as to the pollution insurance requirements needed to be considered a Certified Environmentally Responsible Contractor (CERC). With this knowledge, The Arizona Group has been able to assist their clients in achieving differentiation in the marketplace through the CERC certification.
Formed in 1993 by a group of like-minded, enthusiastic professionals, with a common goal of finding the right coverage for clients, The Arizona Group quickly became a highly respected partner of the insurance carriers they work with and the clients and the communities that they served. In 2006, Arizona Federal Credit Union took notice and proposed a partnership that would provide The Arizona Group with a very stable foundation with a world class organization that shares the same vision and emphasis on core values.
The Arizona Group’s choice to become a CERC Insurance Advisor comes at a time when businesses are seeking ways to set themselves apart from other competitors. Joseph Cook, an insurance consultant at The Arizona Group, said that he’s seen the positive impact of being a Certified Environmentally Responsible Contractor in the business ventures of his clients.
“I have several clients that are CERC certified and use it as a method to differentiate themselves from their peers/competitors. We have built it into all of their Certificates of Insurance so when they submit their bid packets it allows the General or Prime Contractor to see they are committed to environmental safety; in the case of one of my clients, this means a lot since they are applicators of herbicide and pesticide,” Cook said.
Other members of The Arizona Group have also seen success through recommending the CERC certification to their clients, who are always seeking new ways to impress their customers. For Greg Okonowski, he found that for a specific client, having the CERC certification made all the difference for them with one of their biggest customers.
“I have a client…that had a request from one of their clients last year for their pollution prevention practices. They were able to provide that policy along with their CERC certificate which made their client happy,” Okonowski said.
The Arizona Group works together with clients throughout Arizona to help them understand and manage their risks, which is part of the reason why they chose to become a CERC Insurance Advisor. The Certified Environmentally Responsible Contractor (CERC) certification is a unique opportunity for contractors. It affirms that a contractor has been properly trained and properly insured to better protect project stakeholders from environmental issues. Obtaining the CERC certification may open the door to winning more business for contractors by improving and highlighting their qualifications.

Certified Environmentally Responsible Contractor (CERC) is a certification program that showcases contractors by helping them stand out from lesser-qualified competition and win more bids. Contractors become CERC certified by establishing an environmental risk management training plan and securing true pollution coverage. Insurance requirements include a one (1) million dollar limit; first and third-party transportation coverage; non-owned disposal sites (NODS) coverage; mold coverage; natural resource damage coverage; and no sudden and accidental pollution release coverage limitation.
